Sobrinos de Domingo Estedo 1972: "Moraito Chico" Reediton

Solera Flamenca presents the new model of Felipe Conde, paying a homage to maestro MORAITO CHICO.

From Solera Flamenca we would like to present our customers the new guitar made by the magnificent maker Felipe Conde. An instrument which pays a homage to the guitar Maestro maestro "Moraito Chico”, with only 25 units of this gem. It is an exact replica of his favourite guitar: Sobrinos de Domingo Esteso 1972, which they managed to imitate down to the smallest detail, thanks to Diego del Morao’s collaboration, as well as Felipe Conde’s great skills. Only the traditional pegs has been replaced by a mechanical tuning pegs one, keeping the original aesthetics, but improving its finctionality. It is worth mentioning how the original guitar used to have wooden traditional pegs, but the Maestro decided to modify it for comfort reasons on stage in the 90´s. Hence the fact that we can see some images of him with the same guitar, but different pegboxes.

Felipe Conde is more than a well known guitar maker: The top representative of one of the most prestigious and mportant firms of the guitar world in Spain: Hermanos Conde. Just by saying his name, we can’t help but thinking of Paco de Lucia, always with his inseparable Hermanos Conde guitar. Moraito Chico, Pepe Habichuela, Cepero… an endless list of priceless artists with made us fall in love with their music. A music coming from the talent and genius, from inspiration. However, the instrument also plays an important part in the creative process of the musician. And this is exactly the secret of the firm Hermanos Conde: They have always managed to introduce a unique sound, different from all the rest, thus captivating the best artists of the time, and also relating to them, which was really important so as to compose and interpret their pieces.

With this new model of flamenco guitar, Felipe Conde has succeeded in the creation of an exact copy of Maestro Moraito’s guitar. The difference in sound timbre, colour and quality are almost imposible to tell. This instrument has a mature sound, something that definitely evolved, with that bouquet the best flamenco guitars acquire along the years. It is extremely difficult to combine all those qualities in a mechanical guitar. However, knowledge, as well as unbeatable talent, always break down barriers, and this is what happened one more time, yielding spotless results.

The original plantilla and solera used for the making of this guitar, along with the most accurate tools available at present, have resulted in an unbeatable guitar, capable of making us feel and remember the music of the best artists on our own hands. This is our humble but honest opinion of the new guitar "Moraito Chico". An opinion Diego del Morao agrees with, as we had the chance of talking to him, after meeting him at Felipe Conde’s workshop, where we were in order to test and pick up the guitars we ordered. He explained us how satisfied he was with his new creation. It was obvious how happy, even amazed, he was when talking about that excellent piece of work.

For the creation of this fine instrument, Felipe Conde has worked hand in hand with his son: Felipe Conde Jr., a young talented guitar maker which combines all the necessary factors to become one of the best makers in Spain. The perfect heir of the firm he represents: devotion and love for his work, music and guitar.

Before our farewell, we will leave you with a video An old video of Moraito Chico’s father, Juan Morao playing the original guitar probably very recently built.
