RYCARDO MORENO: New production in Solera Flamenca
In March 2017 we were paid a visit by the great guitarist Rycardo Moreno, in Solera Flamenca. A visit coming along with his latest production, the artist offering it as an advance of his latest album: "aGaleano", which will be presented on Monday 24 April in "Sala Mompou", Barcelona at 12:00 h.
Rycardo Moreno Montiel, a flamenco and jazz guitarist, was born in a gipsy family in 1981. He started in music at the age of 11, accompanying his grandmother, "Pepa la Cartuja", by singing. He developed his career as a creator, musical producer, composer, arranger and guitarist in the tours of many artists, such as Dorantes, Lebrijano, Tomas de Perrate, Raimundo Amador, Yelsy Heredia, Esperanza Fernández, Javier Ruibal, or Lole Montoya, among many others.
It’s in 2014 Maestro Gerardo Núñez, having heard of his project, encourages and invites him to present it in Gerardo Núñez’s 1st International Guitar Festival. It opened him the doors of the record label Nuba Records / Karonte, which would publish his album "VAREKAI" in 2015, which he would use in order to take part in Sevilla’s Flamenco Biennial in 2016.
As mentioned above, his second álbum is being released now, in April: "aGaleano". A proposal by Rycardo Moreno based on Eduardo Galeano’s "El libro de los abrazos" ("The book of hugs"), literature in prose and avant-garde flamenco, with Sandra Carrasco’s voice, and Joâo Frade’s accordion. A socially committed album, just like Eduardo Galeano himself.
From Solera Flamenca we would like to wish him the best of luck in his musical career, as this superb guitarist is also a humble and warm man who is all heart, all of which is reflected on his music and his playing style.
Now we will leave you with a song dedicated to the Syrian refugees, titled "Sueñan en Alepo" ("They dream in Aleppo"), a composition included in his new álbum, which was interpreted by Maestro Rycardo Moreno in Solera Flamenca, accompanied by Israel Suárez’s (aka Piranha) percussion. This has been recorded with a guitar of the luthier José González López 2016, an incredible guitar, made by one of the best makers nowadays. We hope you enjoy it as much as we did.
(Two parts of me), interpreting the Soleá "A mi compare Morao", also in this album.
