Flamenco guitar guitar Arcángel Fernández 1973

This flamenco guitar was built by the master luthier Arcángel Fernández in the year 1973, considered to be one of the best guitar makers in history. His instruments are really hard to get, since Japan collectors bought almost all of them. His guitars are truly admired by guitar makers, collectors and guitarists all around the world.

The different woods in this flamenco guitar are of the top existing quality. The top are made of german spruce has a totally straight and even grain, which is quite accentuated. The back and sides are made of cypress wood, whose beauty and quality are simply magnificent. Arcángel Fernández was extremely selective as regards the choice of the woods for the guitar making. He always seeked for nothing but excellence in acoustics and beauty, which can be appreciated in every single guitar he made all along his career.

Its sound is simply spectacular, sharing several similitudes with Santos Hernández´s guitars. It particularly reminds us of this Santos guitar, 1932. Quite a balanced sound, with a special timbre, letting out its character with the very first stroke. It has this characteristic lyrical sound of Arcángel´s guitars, but with a wilder flamenco character, which makes it one of the best guitars we have had in our hands.

The tension of the guitar is medium, and the height of the strings in saddle and fingerboard perfect, really balanced, which grants the performer a high degree of comfort for both hands.

The condition of this guitar is excellent and completely original, without any crack or repair whatsoever. This flamenco guitar was varnished with shellac, upon the customer´s request. The centre of the top has an aesthetic fault, originated when the previous pickguard, fixed with glue, was removed. Consequently, the shellac on this area remained attached to the pickguard, thus leaving this area without any varnish left. However, the wood is not affected. We have decided to show the guitar in its original state, even though it is being currently restored. As a result, it will be delivered without this above mentioned fault.
