Flamenco guitar Gerundino Hijo 2023 (Mechanical pegs)

This flamenco guitar was made by the luthier Gerundino Fernández Llamas, son of the great maker Gerundino Fernández, in 2023. Born in 1974 in Almería, he started helping his father with guitar making since he was really young. He helped with tasks such as sanding woods, put pawns, glue bottoms and tops, etc). His link with wood goes beyond guitar making. That is, he knows a lot about this material, since he used to go with his uncle Eladio Fernández for spotting, cutting and selecting the best woods, which his father would later employ for his guitar making. For several years he devoted himself to the in-depth study of the guitar, and to a comprehensive revision of his father´s whole career. In 2015 he decided to continue the family tradition, thus starting to make his own guitars, using the techniques, tools and woods inherited from his father.

The different woods in this flamenco guitar are of the top existing quality. The top is made of canadian cedar, with an outlined grain, straight and smooth, that endorse its exceptional quality. The back and sides are made of Indian rosewood, with a straight grain and beautiful tones. The finishing is elegant and sober.

Specially remarkable has to be the headstock: a traditional one, but with an internal mechanism, making accurate tuning possible, without the disadvantages of the old wooden headstocks, combining thus the beauty of the latter with the accuracy and convenience of the modern mechanical headstock.

This flamenco guitar has surprised us nicely, as it goes to show the constant improvement of this genius´s work, which we had already foreseen. Each of his guitars goes beyond our expectations. Gerundino has undoubtedly reached a making and sound level which place him among the very best in the history of our country. This guitar has such a high level of volume and power that it clearly stands out. Its trebles are simply exceptional, and its flamenco timbre, just beautiful and thrilling, all of which inevitably reminds us of his father.

The strings height and adjustment which this guitar allows is simply perfect, this permits an extremely comfortable touch in both hands and an increase in fluidity when playing the instrument.

The condition of this flamenco guitar is new.
