This flamenco guitar was made by the firm Conde Hermanos in Madrid, the year 1967. It is a guitar known as “segunda” regarding the kinds of wood used in its construction, which do not have the same quality as the “primera” guitars or concert guitars. Regardless of this, there were many professionals at that time who used this guitars given the closer sound, sometimes comparable to “primera” guitars but at a more reasonable price.

The woods have a surprisingly high quality, particulary bearing in mind the fact that we are talking about a second class guitar. The German spruce top has got an excellent grain, very marked and even all along its surface. The back and sides are made of Indian rosewood, with a straight grain and beautiful tones.

Many times, these guitars emanate a sound quality that surpasses that of many ‘de primera’ class guitars from the same brand that we’ve had the chance to try over the years. This particular guitar possesses bass strings with a beautiful, percussive, and deep tone, carrying that distinct flamenco resonance and hollow sound characteristic of the finest guitars from the era. The trebles are thick and exhibit astonishing projection.

The tension of this flamenco guitar is medium. The height of the strings in the fingerboard and saddle is very balanced, providing us with a high level of comfort for both hands, as well as simplicity for the performance itself. This is an instrument meant to be played non-stop, for hours and hours, with an incredible beating, and the much appreciated “rebound effect” on the strings.
