Flamenco guitar Sobrinos de Domingo Esteso 1969

This flamenco guitar was made by the master luthier Domingo Esteso´s nephews in the emblematic workshop in 7 Gravina Street. This workshop was owned by Faustino and Mariano Conde. Lots of great performers have been in this workshop. For example, Paco de Lucía, Melchor de Marchena, Niño Ricardo, Cepero, Pepe Habichuela, and so many others.

This flamenco guitar is made of excellent woods, impossible to obtain nowadays. Straight-grained brazilian rosewood with breathtakingly beautiful shades, as well as canadian cedar top, also with a straight and even grain endorse the quality of this guitar with plenty of quality and character, typical of Hermanos Conde in that time.

This flamenco guitar is one of the best we have had over the years from the popular Madrid brand. It is truly surprising how similar it is to the guitar we had from the maestro Manolo Sanlúcar, as it presents characteristics that deviate from the traditional ones of the Conde signature, some of these being typical of classical guitars, such as the use of wider ribs. Details that the maestro probably requested to be introduced for the construction of his guitar. This makes us think that this instrument was possibly built alongside the maestro’s to replicate the same characteristics in another guitar for a different client. Acoustically, we are looking at an instrument of unsurpassed quality, with a truly exceptional flamenco timbre and a spatial projection that we only find in the best flamenco concert guitars.

The action is medium and the string height at the saddle and fingerboard is perfect and balanced, providing great comfort in both hands and facilitating the guitarist’s performance.

The condition is excellent. It has no cracks or repairs of any kind. It only shows a slight aesthetic defect in the varnish that we preferred not to restore to keep its originality intact.
