This flamenco guitar was built by the popular José Ramirez signature in 1971, one of the most prolific periods of the firm, which flocked to his shop guitarists worldwide both classical and flamenco, Paco de Lucia, Manolo Sanlucar, Narciso Yepes, Serranito… among many others.
This flamenco guitar is part of a collection made up of four ones, by José Ramírez and two of them by Sobrinos de Domingo Esteso, belonging to a really infuential guitarist and collector of that time, with important connections in the world of flamenco.
The wood used for the top is canadian cedar, and spanish Cypress for back and sides. The top has a very accentuated grain, completely straight and uniform. The back and sides are made of cypress wood, with an outstanding quality and beauty.
One more time, this instrument is part of a series of guitars specially made for the artists of that time. They were top-notch guitars, but delivered without a signature, thus allowing professionals to acquire them for a lower price, after promising not to sell them at a higher price.
Sealed inside, the number 15 matches the craftsman who made this guitar. In this case, he is José Luis Álvarez Mariblanca.
The sound of this flamenco guitar is of the highest level, with a surprising quickness, which turns it into one of the funniest guitars we have had in our hands in a long time. A legendary flamenco timbre we have listened to and enjoyed from the great maestros: Sabicas, Sanlucar or Serranito, among others.
The strings height and adjustment which this guitar allows is simply perfect, this permits an extremely comfortable touch in both hands and an increase in fluidity when playing the instrument.
The condition of the guitar is excellent. It has a small and superficial crack, perfectly repaired and shown in the images attached. On the upper part of the top, there is an area located in a “dead zone”, with practically no vibration, so the sound is not affected in any way.
