Flamenco guitar José Ramírez 1972 nº5.672

This flamenco guitar was built by the popular José Ramirez signature in 1972, one of the most prolific periods of the firm, which flocked to his shop guitarists worldwide both classical and flamenco, Paco de Lucia, Manolo Sanlucar, Narciso Yepes, Serranito… among many others.

This flamenco guitar is part of a collection made up of four ones, by José Ramírez and two of them by Sobrinos de Domingo Esteso, belonging to a really infuential guitarist and collector of that time, with important connections in the world of flamenco.

The wood used for the top is canadian cedar, and spanish Cypress for back and sides. The top has a very accentuated grain, completely straight and uniform. The back and sides are made of cypress wood, with an outstanding quality and beauty.

This flamenco guitar has such a beautiful sound. We have always felt special devotion for José Ramírez´s guitars of the 60s and 70s, as their timbre is easily recognizable, and its sound quality, the definition of excellence, all of which, as time goes by, is more highly valued than volume or power.

This guitar has the highly-valued “rebound beating” on the right hand, combined with fantastic softness on the left one, thus accomplishing the “perfect instrument”, should we want to spend hours and hours playing non-stop with a nice feeling of ease.

The condition of this flamenco guitar is excellent, it only has a small crack on the top of the back, next to the heel, which was perfectly repaired approximately 25 years ago. The original wooden tuning pegs were replaced with a high-end mechanical set from Fustero, in our opinion and experience, giving the instrument a more comfortable playability than is usual in these guitars.
