This flamenco guitar was built by the popular José Ramirez signature in 1969, one of the most prolific periods of the firm, which flocked to his shop guitarists worldwide both classical and flamenco, Paco de Lucia, Manolo Sanlucar, Narciso Yepes, Serranito… among many others.
This flamenco guitar is part of a collection made up of three ones, by José Ramírez and two of them by Sobrinos de Domingo Esteso, belonging to a really infuential guitarist and collector of that time, with important connections in the world of flamenco.
The wood used for the top is canadian cedar, and spanish Cypress for back and sides. The top has a very accentuated grain, completely straight and uniform. The back and sides are made of cypress wood, with an outstanding quality and beauty.
This flamenco guitar belongs to the brightest period of the firm Ramírez. We would like to highlight the fact that, during all these years, every guitar by the firm were made by the best makers of the workshop, trained by José Ramírez himself. Despite being a second-level guitar, this level assessment is based on the aesthetics of the instrument, as these guitars have been made by the very same makers as the first-level ones. The same making system has been followed, and the same devotion has been put into the instrument, too. The wood selection process in this period was extremely thorough, so if a wood did not meet the standards set, it was automatically labelled as a second-level instrument, even if it was acoustically better than the others, as it did happen quite often. For this reason, we can assure you we are before a guitar whose level is higher than many of the so called “first-level” guitars, with exceptional volume and power, and such a beautiful flamenco timbre, which instantly reminds us of the maestro Sabicas.
This guitar has got medium tension, and a reduced height of strings in the saddle and fingerboard, providing the guitarist with a high degree of comfort for both hands, as well as an easy performance.
The condition of this flamenco guitar is excellent, without any cracks or repairs of any kind.
