“La Calle más Bonita”: Pedro Javier González presents “BABIA”

This week, on Solera Flamenca, we are bringing you Pedro Javier González´s guitar. He is releasing his latest album, named “Babia”, available for sale on the artist´s website. (CLIK HERE).

Nowadays, it is really hard, maybe impossible, to find a guitarist releasing an album with the guitar as the only instrument which can be heard, from the very first tune to the last one. No voices, no percussion… NOTHING whatsoever. Only the beautiful and delicate voice of the guitar. It is a risky enterprise Pedro Javier González has been able to deal with masterfully, thus giving birth to an album with personality. In this album, the artist strips down to his very soul, rethorically exposing himself, being only dressed with the comfort his guitar gives him.

In Spanish, we say “You are in Babia” (Estás en Babia) when someone is absent-minded, when your mind is not where it is supposed to be. From there, Babia, the author breathes freedom, he avoids consciousness. Babia is the white canvas preceding the painting, the silence above which music emerges, bursting into coloured sounds. Babia is a six-stringed monologue, a black wooden well. In his simplicity lies the challenge and the reward, the eternal search for beauty.

Pedro Javier González is a guitarist and composer from Barcelona. He stands out as a guitarist due to his crystal-clear play, tempered and measured, as well as his musical versatility when it comes to adapting to different genres. Pedro Javier González´s musicalness is wide, clean, sensitive, demanding, solid. It is an allegation for good taste. Along his career, he has released eleven albums, and he has produced and collaborated with artists from different branches in classical, flamenco, jazz and pop-rock: Yoshimi Otani, Toti Soler, Feliu Gasull, Victoria de los Ángeles, El último de la fila, Joan Manuel Serrat, Lluis Llach, Maria del Mar Bonet, Manolo García, Paco Ortega, Mónica Molina, Angelo Branduardi, Manolo García or Roberto Alagna, among many others.
