The Californian guitar maker Lester Devoe is the luthier who made this fine flamenco guitar, made in 1982. Lester Devoe is regarded as one of the best flamenco guitar makers in the world. In fact, his pieces of work have been praised and played by Paco de Lucia, Vicente Amigo, Sabicas… both in recording studios and live concerts.
This guitar has belonged to the Maestro of Maestros, Agustín Castellón, “Sabicas” for flamenco lovers. He never hid his admiration for Lester Devoe’s magnificent guitars. This one was tailor-made for him, as it can be read on the label. The best woods available were employed for making it, and Sabicas used it for several years. (SEE NEWS)
The sound of this guitar is extraordinary. The basses are unbelievably strong and deep, the trebles are sweet and clear, with an unmatchable sustain and projection. The harmonics it releases are truly magic. The “rasgueos” whit this guitar are just unbeatable: crystal-clear, broken and bright, with that particular “dry” and “hollow” sound, typical in the best flamenco guitars.
This flamenco guitar has got medium tension, and a perfect height of strings in the saddle and fingerboard, providing the guitarist with a high degree of comfort for both hands, as well as an easy performance.
Its condition is excellent, and completely original. It only presents a small crack on the bottom, and it might be noticed how there is a slight separation in the joint of the top. It is worth mentioning how none of these little imperfections requires any repair whatsoever, due to the guitar parts they are in, as well as their insignificance. Both of them are backed up with evidence (images attached).
