Flamenco guitar Lester Devoe 1982

The Californian guitar maker Lester Devoe is the luthier who made this fine flamenco guitar, made in 1982. Lester Devoe is regarded as one of the best flamenco guitar makers in the world. In fact, his pieces of work have been praised and played by Paco de Lucia, Vicente Amigo, Sabicas… both in recording studios and live concerts.

The woods of this guitar are simply extraordinary. The German spruce top has got a very marked, straight and even grain. The back and sides are made of cypress of the highest quality, concerning both the cut and the excellent wood seasoning this guitar maker gives all his woods for years. The finishes are simple and sober, but also elegant.

The sound of this flamenco guitar is simply perfect. Its timbre reminds us of a guitar by Lester Devoe which had belonged to maestro Sabicas, which we had the pleasure of enjoying in Solera Flamenca some years ago. A “hollow” sound, bright and deep, a wood-like sound… fairly difficult to faithfully describe with just words, with a timbre very close to us, similarly to Santos´s guitars. In addition, it is extremely light and easy to play, thus resulting in a top-notch instrument, capable of captivating the most demanding musician.

The tension of the guitar is medium, and the height of the strings in saddle and fingerboard perfect, really balanced, which grants the performer a high degree of comfort for both hands.

The condition of this flamenco guitar is excellent and completely original, without any kind of cracks or repairs whatsoever.
