Flamenco guitar Lester Devoe 1999

The Californian guitar maker Lester Devoe is the luthier who made this fine flamenco guitar, made in 1999. Lester Devoe is regarded as one of the best flamenco guitar makers in the world. In fact, his pieces of work have been praised and played by Paco de Lucia, Vicente Amigo, Sabicas… both in recording studios and live concerts.

The wood used for the top is German spruce, and indian rosewood for back and sides. The top has a very accentuated grain, completely straight and uniform. The back and sides are made of cypress wood, with an outstanding quality and beauty. The making is simple, not overelaborate. In fact, it could be labelled as “minimalist”. This adjective has accompanied this luthier from the very beginning of his career, and we love it, as it is in simplicity that greatness is often found.

This guitar is a perfect instrument, it has everything you would ask from a guitar: strength, volume, projection, character… Besides, the tone it gives off is very “warm” and this is a detail that we value very much since sometimes guitars as perfect as this one (with volume, projection, sound quality…) end up being “cold”, empty, without soul. So to speak, this is an aspect that we can compare with great guitar artists or singers: some could play and sing very well and still transmit or say nothing!

This guitar has the highly-valued “rebound beating” on the right hand, combined with fantastic softness on the left one, thus accomplishing the “perfect instrument”, should we want to spend hours and hours playing non-stop with a nice feeling of ease. The height on the fret 12 is 2.5 millimeters, which allows our left hand to do its job very easily and fluently.

The condition of this flamenco guitar is excellent and completely original, without any kind of cracks or repairs whatsoever.
