This flamenco guitar was made by the master luthier Manuel Reyes in 1982. His guitars are regarded as pieces of work, and him, as one of the greatest luthiers ever. In fact, his guitars have been (and are) played by some of the best performers ever: Vicente Amigo, Tomatito, Jose Luis Postigo, Manolo Franco, and so many others.
This flamenco guitar is built with superior quality woods, impossible to obtain nowadays. The top are made of german spruce has a totally straight and even grain, which is quite accentuated. The back and sides are made of cypress wood, whose beauty and quality are simply magnificent.
The sound is extraordinary, with an unbeatable character. This guitar by Manuel Reyes is one of the best we have had throughout our career. It belongs to a period of the guitarist’s life for which we have a special predilection. This is a guitar with a lot of power, fast and with an amazing projection. The strumming is soul-searing and literally ‘tears you apart’ like the quejío (flamenco passionate lament or cry when singing) of the best singing, with a unique, magical timbre that makes us understand why Manuel Reyes is considered one of the best guitarists in the history of flamenco guitar.
The tension is medium, very comfortable for both hands, due to the reduced height of strings in the fingerboard. The height on the fret 12 is 2.2 millimeters, which allows our left hand to do its job very easily and fluently.
The condition of this flamenco guitar is very good. The guitar’s shellac has been superficially repolished due to the need to replace the original pickguard, as it was too big. There is only a small crack in the upper rim which is perfectly repaired and documented in the attached pictures.
