Flamenco guitar Miguel Rodríguez 1974

This flamenco guitar was made by the legendary guitar maker Miguel Rodríguez in his workshop, located in 15 Alfaros Street (Córdoba) in 1974. His guitars are objects of desire for collectors and performers all around the world because of both its meticulous construction and the personality they have.

The different woods in this flamenco guitar are of the top existing quality. The top are made of canadian cedar has a totally straight and even grain, which is quite accentuated. The back and sides are made of cypress wood, whose beauty and quality are simply magnificent. Miguel Rodríguez was extremely selective as regards the choice of the woods for the guitar making. He always seeked for nothing but excellence in acoustics and beauty, which can be appreciated in every single guitar he made all along his career.

The sound of this guitar is simply spectacular. It has that particular timbre, so characteristic, distinguishing all his guitars. The bourdons are hoarse and deep, with a somewhat “hollow” sound which we curiously find in its trebles, too. This enhances and counterbalances the overall qualities brilliantly. The “rasgueos” whit this guitar are just unbeatable: crystal-clear, broken and bright, but also with this maturity acquired as years go by. This is indeed one of Miguel Rodriguez’s finest guitars we have ever held in our fortunate hands.

The tension is medium, very comfortable for both hands, due to the reduced height of strings in the saddle and fingerboard.

The condition of this flamenco guitar is really good and completely original. It only has three small superficial cracks, nothing major, two of them being on the top. One of them on the widest and external side of the top; the second is near the fingerboard, whereas the third is located in the widest and external side of the bottom. None of them require any kind of repair whatsoever, owing to their location and lightness (they are in areas with lack of vibration or tension in the instrument).
