Flamenco guitar Pedro Maldonado 1971

This flamenco guitar was built by the maestro luthier Pedro Maldonado in his workshop in the Malaga neighborhood Sixto. His guitars have been used by guitarists such as Merengue de Córdoba, Moraito Chico, Parrilla de Jerez, Manuel Cano…

The woods employed for this guitar are extraordinarily good. The german spruce top has got a very marked, straight and even grain. The back and sides are made of cypress wood, whose beauty and quality are simply magnificent.

The sound coming out of this piece of work is something worth listening to: The basses are hoarse and deep, with a somewhat “hollow” sound which we curiously find in its trebles, too. This enhances and counterbalances the overall qualities brilliantly. The volume, quality and warmth it gives off, along with its distinct character, take this instrument to the rank of masterpiece.

This flamenco guitar has got medium tension, and a perfect height of strings in the saddle and fingerboard, providing the guitarist with a high degree of comfort for both hands, as well as an easy performance.

The condition of the guitar is very good. It has some cracks on the back, they have been completely repaired, as seen in the images attached. The shellac varnish has been touched up slightly, without affecting the original thickness of the wood at all. Thus, the sound qualities and features of the instrument are perfectly preserved.
