Flamenco guitar Moraito Chico´s Vda. y Sobrinos de Domingo Esteso 1964

This flamenco guitar was property of the guitarist Manuel Moreno Junquera “Moraito Chico”, one of the best guitarists in history of flamenco guitar. This guitar of the firm Vda. y Sobrinos de Domingo Esteso, 1964, built in the emblematic workshop at 7 Gravina street by the nephews of the master guitar maker Domingo Esteso, managed at that time by the brothers Faustino, Julio and Mariano Conde, has accompanied the ‘maestro’ during the major part of his career, as it can be seen in numerous recordings and images where you can see the artist with it. A guitar that, according to his son Diego del Morao, gave him the most satisfaction in stages as in his personal life.

This flamenco guitar is built with superior quality woods, impossible to obtain nowadays. The top are made of german spruce has a totally straight and even grain, which is quite accentuated. The back and sides are made of cypress wood, whose beauty and quality are simply magnificent.

Its sound is extraordinary, with deep and roaring basses, as well as bright and vivid trebles, all of which makes a very balanced set of qualities with a unique sound quality, maintaining an identical tone and volume in every single note along the fingerboard.

The tension of this great guitar is middle, and the height of strings in the saddle and fingerboard, very low, all of which provides the guitar with a high degree of comfort for both hands.

The conservation condition of this guitar is good, presents a fissure in the sound top and two in the back, all perfectly repaired and documented in the attached images. After the reparation of such fissures the ‘maestro’ Moraito demanded that the guitar was varnished again.
