Guitar Sentchordi Hermanos 1880-1905

This guitar is a truly special instrument, as throughout our lives, we have only seen three guitars with the same characteristics. It is an unlabelled guitar that, due to its construction details, belongs to the Valencian school of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, probably built between 1880 and 1905 by the prestigious guitar maker Sentchordi Hermanos, one of the oldest in Valencia, which maintained its activity from 1780 to 1905.

The woods of this guitar are of extraordinary quality, with German spruce for the soundboard, featuring a very straight and uniform grain across its entire surface. The sides and back are made of Brazilian Rosewood with a wonderful aesthetic. The mother-of-pearl inlays and fine detailing are exquisite and demonstrate that we are dealing with a high-quality instrument. It’s worth noting the originality of the shellac varnish on the instrument, something hard to find on guitars of this age.

Its sound is truly magnificent. Its tone is romantic and lyrical, with deep bass notes and a strong presence, as well as sweet and clear trebles with perfect acoustic balance and sustain.

This is a guitar with a comfortable medium-low action and a perfect string height at both the saddle and fingerboard, providing great comfort for both hands.

Its condition is extraordinary for a guitar from that era with so many years, maintaining its complete originality and perfect usability. It has a small, already restored, crack on the upper left side of the fingerboard. This is a guitar that we could classify as ‘Very Special.
