This flamenco guitar was built by the Madrid-based Juan Álvarez firm in 2009. Juan Álvarez began his career as an independent guitar maker in 1946 after training alongside the renowned master luthier Marcelo Barbero. Over the years, he established himself as one of the leading figures of the Madrid guitar-making tradition, earning recognition for the exceptional craftsmanship and distinctive sound of his instruments. His legacy was later continued and further developed by his son, Juan Miguel Álvarez, who joined the workshop in 1977 and introduced refinements that enhanced both the tonal power and playing comfort of the guitars while remaining faithful to traditional construction methods. Today, Álvarez guitars enjoy an excellent reputation both in Spain and internationally and are played by guitarists around the world.

The woods used in the construction of this flamenco guitar are of the highest quality. The soundboard is crafted from German spruce, featuring a straight, even and well-defined grain. The back and sides are made of Spanish cypress, the traditional wood of choice for flamenco guitars, valued for its light weight and outstanding acoustic properties. The instrument is completed with elegant and understated appointments that reflect the classic aesthetics of the flamenco guitar.

Its sound is unmistakably flamenco, offering deep, dry and characterful basses combined with bright, clean and highly defined trebles. The cypress provides the quick response, clarity and percussive attack so highly valued by flamenco players, allowing rasgueados, alzapúa techniques and golpes to be reproduced with remarkable precision. Projection is excellent, with superb balance across the registers and a rich tonal palette that combines power, volume and impeccable intonation.

The guitar also benefits from an excellent setup. String action is perfectly adjusted, providing exceptional comfort for both hands and allowing a fluid and natural playing experience, whether used for solo performance or accompaniment.
