This flamenco guitar was built by artisan luthier Pedro Martínez Peñalver in 2001, from Baza, a town in the province of Granada. In 1962, Pedro Martínez Peñalver began his apprenticeship with Alfonso Checa (1914–1977), considered one of the most important and influential guitar makers in Granada. After Checa’s passing, Pedro took over his workshop and is regarded as his direct disciple and successor.

Built with a spruce top and cypress back and sides, it perfectly combines lightness, resonance, and the percussive character so sought after in flamenco guitars. These carefully selected tonewoods provide excellent balance and an immediate response that can be felt both in the hands and heard in every note.

Its sound is deeply flamenco: fast, dry, and highly articulate. The basses are controlled and precise, while the trebles are bright and project clearly, allowing the guitar to stand out in both solo playing and accompaniment. It has that distinctive flamenco “air” that inspires playing and responds vividly to every nuance of the performer.

The action is very comfortable, smooth, and responsive, making techniques such as picado, arpeggio, and rasgueado easy to execute, allowing long playing sessions with total ease and no fatigue.

The guitar is in excellent condition, reflecting the care it has received over the years, preserving both its aesthetic beauty and tonal qualities.
