In 1922, Manuel de Falla visited Seville on Easter, where he met Eduardo Torres, Chapel Master of the Cathedral, who, along with the violoncellist Segismundo Romero, collaborated in the preparation of \u201cEl retablo de Maese Pedro\u201d in its concert version, which was premiered in Seville on the inaugural concert of the band on 23 March 1923. It was an overwhelming disaster, economically speaking, not even being able to cover the minimum expenses of the celebration. As a consequence, Falla and Eduardo Torres, along with the musical critic Norberto Almandoz, addressed Mr. Sharpe (a millionaire from whom Miguel Llobet had received Antonio de Torres\u00b4s guitar, with which he appears on a picture taken by Lambert Suydam in 1919), requesting help.<\/p>\n
