[vc_row][vc_column width=’1/2′]This week at Solera Flamenca, we bring you the guitar of the young maestro Francisco Prieto “Currito” in a wonderful composition of tangos, accompanied by the percussion of Javier Prieto, the artist’s brother. In Currito’s playing, we find a virtuosity and mastery of the instrument that defy the imagination, but a “serene” virtuosity entirely at the service of musicality and good taste.

With an innate virtuosity, Francisco Prieto (Córdoba, 1984) began playing the guitar at the young age of five under the guidance of his father, Antonio Prieto, who mentored him in his early years in the world of music. At the age of 11, he made his debut on stage for the first time alongside the singer José Mercé at the Peña Flamenca de Porcuna (Jaén). At 16, he won his first prize as the best guitarist in Córdoba at the Concurso Villa de Puente Genil.

His first recording collaboration was in 2002 when he was invited to participate in the album of the singer Juan de la Vara. This marked the beginning of a new phase in recording studios, which took him to Venezuela to participate in a fusion album with the singer-songwriter Goyo Reyna. Upon returning to Spain in 2004, he collaborated with the violinist David Moreira and the percussionist Diego “El Negro” at the famous tablao Casa Patas. During his time in Madrid, he also performed at El Corral de la Morería. Since then, he has embarked on a series of performances that have taken him to stages in Andalusia and throughout the rest of Spain.

Among the numerous awards won by “Currito,” the Guitar Prize of the National Flamenco Art Contest of Córdoba in 2016 stands out, considered the most important award in its genre, and thanks to which his name begins to resonate strongly as a revelation guitarist. Critics then highlighted his “talent and musical ingenuity in two concert pieces that have been framed for the enjoyment of flamenco enthusiasts” and defined him as “a young concert guitarist with great harmonic and technical richness.”

Without further ado, here are these wonderful tangos composed by the artist and masterfully accompanied by his brother Javier Prieto on the cajón… ENJOY IT!!!
