This flamenco guitar was built in the landmark workshop Gravina Street No. 7 by the nephews of the master luthier Domingo Esteso, then run by brothers Faustino and Mariano Conde. Many were the figures who passed through this workshop suing their guitars as Paco de Lucia, Melchor de Marchena, Niño Ricardo, Cepero, Pepe Habichuela… and much more.

This guitar has belonged to a great friend, Juan Antonio Mangrané, of ours with whom we have been close friends for more than twenty years.

Undoubtedly, this guitar is one of the jewels of our private collection. We are convinced that in our new project Solera Records, in which we offer our guitars for the recording of albums, it will be one of the most requested guitars.

We know everything about the history of this guitar first hand: our friend Juan Antonio acquired it directly from the Hermanos Conde firm in 1978 and immediately sent it to the master Antonio Marín Montero to remove the orange nitro-lacquer varnish and replace it with hand-rub lacquer. The work was carried out with absolute precision and the original thickness of the wood was not changed at any point. The result was truly extraordinary, both aesthetically and acoustically: an instrument that has been praised by great figures in the guitar world over the years and that our good friend has been able to maintain in an optimum state of conservation despite having played it almost daily for all these years. The woods used for its construction – cypress and German spruce pine – are of E-X-T-R- A-O-R-D-I-N-A-R-Y quality. In fact, we had never before seen a top of this quality on guitars of this firm: a top full of an aesthetically beautiful mirror-finish, and with a very fine and marked grain all over its surface.

The sound is absolutely marvellous. The fact that the nitro-lacquer had been replaced with hand-rub lacquer gave the guitar much more natural freedom of movement, which allows for a powerful sound with a very special warmth without losing that peculiar “weight” and depth that we find in the best guitars of the firm from this marvellous period.
