This flamenco guitar was built by the Californian luthier Lester Devoe in 2007. This maker is considered one of the finest flamenco guitar builders in the world, and his instruments have been praised and used by guitarists of the caliber of Paco de Lucia, Vicente Amigo, and Sabicas, both in recording studios and live performances.

The woods used in this flamenco guitar are of the highest quality available. The soundboard is made of German spruce, featuring a very pronounced, straight, and uniform grain, full of that characteristic “cross-grain” shimmer visible across its entire surface, which attests to its exceptional quality. The back and sides are made of Indian rosewood, with a straight grain and beautiful tonal variations. The finishes are sober and elegant.

Recently, we have seen on the artisan’s website that he has closed his order list, so it is possible that no new guitars will be built under the name of this master craftsman.

This flamenco guitar is possibly one of the best examples from this maker that we have encountered in our lifetime. What sets Lester’s guitars apart is the feeling of holding an instrument that is incredibly easy to play—you simply play better. The guitar responds quickly, with power, and it’s hard to put it down. As a comparison, it is like driving a high-end sports car for the first time. A guitar with a big sound, immediate response, and an unmistakable flamenco tone capable of captivating even the most demanding guitarist.

We would like to highlight its perfect and millimetric setup, both in string action and tuning tension, making it an extremely easy guitar to play. In fact, we are convinced that any professional guitarist could pick it up and perform a concert at any moment without needing any adaptation period. This level of precision gives the guitar a highly expressive flamenco tone, with that perfectly balanced touch of “buzz” and clarity so appreciated and difficult to find in guitars from other makers.

The condition of this flamenco guitar is excellent and original, with no cracks or repairs of any kind.
