This flamenco guitar was built by the master luthier Arcángel Fernández in 1968, considered one of the greatest guitar makers in history. His instruments are extremely difficult to find since nearly all of them were purchased by collectors in Japan. His guitars are praised by luthiers, collectors, and guitarists worldwide.
This flamenco guitar has been restored, and the soundboard has been replaced. It is a well-executed job, but it notably and considerably affects the instrument’s value, resulting in a unique opportunity to acquire an instrument of exceptional quality at a very low price.
The woods of this flamenco guitar are of the highest possible quality. The spruce top shows very pronounced, straight, and even grain across its entire surface. The sides and back are made of cypress of supreme beauty and quality. Arcángel Fernández was extremely selective when choosing woods for his guitars, always seeking excellence in both acoustics and aesthetics, something evident in every single guitar he built throughout his life.
This flamenco guitar offers an exceptional sound. Despite the replacement of the top, it retains the timbre and personality of Arcángel Fernández’s guitars. The basses are deep and powerful, with a quick and precise response. The trebles are crystal clear, with long and consistent sustain. The overall balance is remarkable, and the sound quality is far above its current market price.
The playability of this flamenco guitar is medium, with a very well-balanced string height at both the fingerboard and the saddle, factors that make playing easier and provide the guitarist with great comfort.
Its condition is very good. In addition to the replaced top, it presents some cracks on the back and sides, all perfectly repaired and documented in the attached images.
