This flamenco guitar was built by master luthier Manuel Reyes in 1971. His guitars are considered works of art, and he is recognized as one of the greatest guitar makers in history. His instruments are played by guitarists worldwide, including Vicente Amigo, Tomatito, José Luis Postigo, Manolo Franco, and many others.
This flamenco guitar is made from woods of exceptional quality, impossible to find today. The German spruce soundboard shows very pronounced, fine, straight, and uniform grain across its surface, with a beautiful “mirror” effect in the cross-grain, confirming its superior quality. The back and sides are made of cypress, exhibiting supreme beauty and tone. The finishes are typical of Manuel Reyes: fine, sober, and elegant. Notably, the bridge has a unique purfling design unseen in any other Manuel Reyes guitar, certified 100% original, confirming that this is a truly special and exclusive instrument.
This flamenco guitar is perfect for any guitarist wishing to explore the authentic character of Reyes guitars from the 1970s. With its unmistakable broken, hollow, and brilliant tone, full of flamenco soul, it captivated artists and connoisseurs worldwide. Its sound is highly personal, with supreme acoustic quality, which explains why many guitarists and collectors favor instruments from this period over others.
The string height and setup of this guitar are simply perfect, offering extremely comfortable playability for both hands and excellent fluidity while performing.
The condition of this flamenco guitar is excellent and completely original: varnish, bone, tuning pegs… There is a small crack in the back that has been perfectly repaired and documented in the photos. Additionally, the wear on the varnish reflects extensive playing by its previous owner, which has positively contributed to the rich, mature sound it has developed over the years.
