This flamenco guitar was built by the renowned Valencian master luthier Ricardo Sanchis Carpio in 1998. His guitars enjoy an outstanding reputation, particularly in the flamenco world, and have been played on stages worldwide by artists such as Pedro Sierra, Tomatito, José Andrés Cortés, among many others.
This guitar is the maker’s Model 2F. In Ricardo Sanchis’ nomenclature, the “2F” designation referred exclusively to the cosmetic appearance of the woods selected, not to their acoustic properties. The soundboard is crafted from beautifully straight and evenly grained German spruce, while the back and sides are made from excellent Spanish cypress. The craftsmanship is unmistakably Ricardo Sanchis: elegant, understated and impeccably executed. Thanks to this grading system, he was able to offer instruments with tonal performance virtually identical to his top-grade models, but at a considerably more accessible price.
We must admit that Ricardo Sanchis guitars from the 1990s are among our personal favourites. Whenever one arrives in our workshop—and they are becoming increasingly difficult to find—we enjoy it like children. During this period, Sanchis built his guitars using a construction concept very similar to that employed by Hermanos Conde in the 1970s and 1980s. Although every maker has a distinctive tonal personality, Ricardo achieved a remarkably similar result to those legendary instruments, while remaining far more affordable. Its immediate response, unmistakably flamenco character, excellent projection and exceptional playing comfort make this guitar, without question, one of the finest value-for-money vintage flamenco guitars available today.
The neck offers a comfortable and well-balanced feel, with a low and carefully adjusted action that makes playing effortless while providing outstanding control for both hands, allowing hours of comfortable performance.
This flamenco guitar remains in excellent, fully original condition, with no cracks, repairs or structural issues of any kind.
