Currito

With innate virtuosity, Francisco Prieto (Córdoba, 1984) began playing the guitar at only five years old, guided by his father, Antonio Prieto, who introduced him to music during his early years. At the age of 11, he made his debut on stage with the singer José Mercé at the Peña Flamenca de Porcuna (Jaén). At 16, he received his first award: Best Guitarist of Córdoba at the Villa de Puente Genil Competition.

His first recording collaboration took place in 2002, when he was invited by the singer Juan de la Vara to participate in his album. This marked the beginning of a new stage in recording studios, a path that took him to Venezuela to participate in a fusion album with singer-songwriter Goyo Reyna. Upon returning to Spain in 2004, he collaborated with violinist David Moreira and percussionist Diego “El Negro” at the renowned tablao Casa Patas. During that stay in Madrid, he also performed at El Corral de la Morería. From then on, he embarked on a series of performances that led him to stages across Andalusia and the rest of Spain.

Among the many awards received by “Currito,” one stands out above all: the Guitar Prize at the National Flamenco Art Competition of Córdoba in 2016, considered the most prestigious award in its category and the one that propelled his name as a rising guitarist.
