16 Dec Solera Flamenca opens its doors to guitar students with a unique flamenco guitar experience

A journey through the history and construction of the flamenco guitar
Throughout the conference, a wide range of key topics were covered for guitarists wishing to deepen their understanding of their instrument. We explored flamenco guitar construction, structural and tonal differences between models, and the importance of the signatures and schools of the great master luthiers who have shaped the history of the flamenco guitar.
Students were able to learn first-hand which elements truly influence sound, response and playability, as well as practical criteria for testing and evaluating a guitar—a fundamental aspect that is rarely addressed in traditional guitar education.

A real comparison: antique guitars and contemporary luthiers
One of the highlights of the event was the opportunity to play and compare antique guitars from our personal collection, instruments rich in history and character that are rarely seen and even more rarely played in an educational context.
Afterwards, participants moved on to trying guitars by contemporary luthiers, carefully selected and currently available for sale at Solera Flamenca. This direct comparison made it possible to appreciate the evolution of the instrument, the different interpretations of the flamenco guitar, and the unique sonic identity each maker brings to their work.
Learning through enjoyment: an experience designed for guitarists
The conference was not merely a theoretical talk, but a live, interactive experience focused on enjoyment and discovery. Students were encouraged to ask questions, play, listen and compare sensations, always guided by clear and accessible explanations.
This format has been created with the aim of becoming an ongoing project, designed for groups of guitar students who wish to learn, refine their listening skills, better understand their instrument and enjoy an authentic flamenco guitar experience.
A project open to schools and student groups
At Solera Flamenca, we aim to continue developing these encounters as a meeting point between tradition, knowledge and passion for the flamenco guitar. We invite schools, teachers and groups of students interested in this experience to contact us to organise future conferences and tailored sessions.
Learning to play the guitar is important. Learning to understand it makes all the difference.
