This flamenco guitar was built in 2014 by the Barcelona-based luthier José A. Fuentes, one of the leading representatives of the Catalan guitar-making community. After working for more than 15 years as a carpenter, his passion for music and his talent for working with wood led him to begin a new stage as a self-taught guitar maker. He studied the construction systems of great historical luthiers such as Santos Hernández, Antonio de Torres, and Miguel Rodríguez, while also experimenting with new ideas and contributions that have positioned him as one of the finest contemporary luthiers. His instruments reflect his personality: simple, elegant, and minimalist, avoiding excessive decoration and always using meticulously selected woods with a long drying and curing process.
The woods used for this flamenco guitar are German spruce for the top and Spanish cypress for the back and sides. The top features a very pronounced, straight, and uniform grain across its entire surface. The back and sides are crafted from cypress of exceptional beauty and quality.
Without a doubt, this is one of the finest guitars from this maker that we have seen in recent years. It offers a highly personal tonal character with remarkable strength and outstanding quality. An instrument with fast response and excellent projection, making it perfect both as a concert guitar and as an accompanying instrument for flamenco singing and dance.
This guitar features the highly sought-after “rebound” right-hand attack combined with extraordinary smoothness in the left hand, resulting in the “perfect instrument” for playing comfortably for hours without fatigue, offering a wonderful sense of ease.
The condition is excellent and entirely original, with no cracks or repairs of any kind. It shows some light surface marks in the varnish, as it previously belonged to a professional guitarist who used it for concerts and recordings over the years—something that has also contributed very positively to the maturity and tonal richness it now possesses.
