This flamenco guitar was built in 1995 by the Californian luthier Lester Devoe. He is considered one of the finest flamenco guitar makers in the world, and his instruments have been praised and used by legendary guitarists such as Paco de Lucía, Vicente Amigo and Sabicas, both in recording studios and in live performances.
The woods used in this flamenco guitar are of the highest quality available. The soundboard is made of Canadian cedar, with a very pronounced, straight and uniform grain that attests to its exceptional quality. The back and sides are crafted from Indian rosewood, featuring a straight grain and beautiful tonal variations. The overall finishes are sober and elegant.
The sound of this flamenco guitar is excellence made tangible. It offers outstanding power and projection, with a beautiful tonal character defined by bright basses with body and depth, and clear, crystalline trebles that produce a wide range of harmonics across the entire fingerboard. For these and many other virtues, it is no surprise that masters such as Paco de Lucía, Sabicas and Vicente Amigo have used these guitars on numerous occasions for the recording of some of their albums.
In addition, it has recently been confirmed on the luthier’s own website that his order list has been closed, meaning that no new guitars bearing the signature of this master craftsman are likely to be built in the future.
The string action and overall setup of this guitar are simply perfect, allowing for extremely comfortable playability in both hands and an optimized fluidity when performing on the instrument.
The condition of this flamenco guitar is very good, with no cracks or repairs of any kind. However, it does show noticeable signs of use on the varnish, mainly caused by fingernails while playing; all of these marks are purely superficial.
