This flamenco guitar was built by the luthier Manuel G. Mayoral in 1988 in Barcelona. Mayoral, the name under which he signed his guitars, is considered one of the finest guitar makers in Catalonia. He was the teacher of many current Barcelona luthiers such as Casimiro González and Jaume Bosser, among others. His guitars are highly appreciated by professionals and enthusiasts who know them, as they have a very special tone and exceptional playability.
This flamenco guitar is built with cypress for the back and sides and German spruce for the soundboard. The woods used are not top-grade, but despite this we are looking at a completely handmade instrument with optimally aged woods. Nowadays, non-top-grade woods are often dried using kilns and artificial drying processes that accelerate the aging. Today, luthiers no longer make second-grade or student guitars themselves because the time required is practically the same as building a top-grade guitar. However, in the 1970s and 1980s it was still possible to find craftsmen who built this type of instrument, as in the case of Manuel Mayoral. Therefore, this represents a great opportunity to own a fully handmade guitar with solid woods at an incredible price. The original tuning machines have been replaced with a new high-end set valued at €200.
The sound is truly incredible, with a perfect balance between bass and treble and an unmistakably flamenco tone that beautifully combines power and volume with outstanding clarity and intonation.
The action of this flamenco guitar is medium, with well-balanced string height both on the fingerboard and at the saddle, providing the guitarist with great comfort in both hands and ease of playing.
The condition of this flamenco guitar is good. It has three cracks on the sides, all professionally repaired and documented in the attached images.
This allows us to offer the instrument at a more accessible price, making it possible to acquire a guitar of the highest category for significantly less than its usual market value, making it an excellent opportunity.
