Flamenco guitar Hermanos Conde 1980

This flamenco guitar was built in the iconic workshop at Gravina Street No. 7 by the nephews of master luthier Domingo Esteso, which at the time was run by brothers Faustino Conde and Mariano Conde. Many legendary figures passed through this workshop seeking their guitars, including Paco de Lucia, Melchor de Marchena, Niño Ricardo, El Cepero, Pepe Habichuela, and many others.

The woods used in this flamenco guitar are simply flawless. The soundboard is made from German spruce, featuring an extraordinary grain—perfectly straight and uniform across its entire surface. The back and sides are crafted from exceptional cypress. The finishes are characteristic of Conde Hermanos: simple, elegant, and timeless.

This flamenco guitar from the renowned Madrid-based maker is a perfect example of the true sound of early 1980s Conde Hermanos guitars. We have all enjoyed—and continue to enjoy—that deep, jondo flamenco sound that defined the recordings and concerts of masters such as Pepe Habichuela during the most brilliant moments of their careers. In this guitar, those distinctive nuances are clearly present, with deep, powerful, raspy basses and clear, bright, penetrating trebles that captivate lovers of the purest and most authentic flamenco.

This guitar features the highly sought-after “springy” right-hand response combined with exceptional softness in the left hand, resulting in the “perfect instrument” to play for hours on end without fatigue, offering a wonderfully effortless playing experience.

The state of preservation is nothing short of miraculous. It belonged to a woman who received the guitar as a gift in 1982 to learn flamenco, but after only a few lessons decided not to continue and stored the guitar in its case permanently. That is precisely its condition today: as if it had just left the workshop, with complete originality preserved (varnish, nut and saddle, tuning machines…), including the original case and polishing cloth—an absolute stroke of luck.
