Flamenco guitar Hermanos Conde 1987 EX-Pepe Habichuela

This flamenco guitar was built by the prestigious Conde Hermanos workshop in 1987 at the iconic Gravina Street No. 7 workshop in Madrid. At that time, the workshop was run by brothers Faustino and Mariano Conde, nephews of the legendary luthier Domingo Esteso and makers of some of the most admired flamenco guitars of the 20th century.

Many of the greatest figures in flamenco guitar passed through this historic workshop, including Paco de Lucía, Melchor de Marchena, Niño Ricardo, Cepero and Pepe Habichuela, among many other artists who helped build the legendary reputation of the Conde name.

This guitar also possesses extraordinary historical and collector’s value, as it was previously owned by maestro Pepe Habichuela, one of the most influential and respected figures in flamenco guitar. The instrument will be delivered with a document certifying its provenance.

The woods selected for its construction are of exceptional quality. The soundboard is made from carefully selected German spruce with a perfectly straight and uniform grain throughout its entire surface. The back and sides are crafted from Spanish cypress of outstanding quality and beauty.

This guitar perfectly represents the sound that made Conde Hermanos guitars famous during the 1980s. It delivers a deep, powerful and highly nuanced flamenco sound, with rich and raspy basses, outstanding responsiveness and bright, expressive trebles that project every note with remarkable clarity. An instrument with a distinctive personality, capable of conveying the purest essence of authentic flamenco.

The playability is extraordinarily comfortable, retaining the highly sought-after “bounce” response in the right hand that so many guitarists look for in the great flamenco guitars of this period. Combined with exceptional ease in the left hand and a perfectly adjusted action, it allows hours of effortless playing with an outstanding sense of control and comfort.

The guitar remains in excellent overall condition. It only shows a crack on the side that has been professionally repaired and is fully documented in the accompanying photographs.
