This flamenco guitar was built by the luthier Felipe Conde in his workshop at Arrieta nº4 street in Madrid in 2018. Felipe Conde is currently the leading representative of one of the most prestigious and important names in the history of Spanish guitar making: Hermanos Conde. It is impossible to speak about Hermanos Conde without remembering Paco de Lucía with his inseparable guitar from this workshop, Pepe Habichuela, Moraito Chico, Juan José Cepero, and an endless list of artists who have captivated us with their music. A music born from genius and inspiration, where the instrument plays a fundamental role in the artist’s creative process, and this is precisely the secret of the firm. Hermanos Conde succeeded in giving their guitars a characteristic and unmistakable sound that fascinated the great musicians of the era and with which the artist felt deeply connected when composing and performing.

With this guitar, Felipe Conde pays tribute to the master guitarist Pepe Habichuela. A model of which only 25 units were built, it is an exact replica of Pepe Habichuela’s legendary 1986 Hermanos Conde guitar, created with the authorization and collaboration of the maestro himself in order to reproduce every detail of his original instrument. This particular guitar has an exceptionally important historical value, as it is the very first guitar built from the entire series, number 1 of 25, and was personally gifted by Felipe Conde to Pepe Habichuela once completed, remaining in the maestro’s hands ever since.

The woods used for the construction of this flamenco guitar are German spruce for the soundboard and Spanish royal cypress for the back and sides. The top features a very pronounced, straight and uniform grain throughout its entire surface. The back and sides are made from cypress of exceptional beauty and quality. The original plantilla and solera used for the construction of this guitar, together with the most advanced tools and techniques available today, have resulted in an unsurpassable instrument capable of making us feel and remember the music of the great masters in our own hands. The label is signed by the maestro Pepe Habichuela.

The sound of this guitar is absolutely exceptional and faithfully represents the character of Pepe Habichuela’s legendary 1986 guitar. Its tone is deeply flamenco, aged, dry and full of personality, with powerful and full-bodied basses and bright, sweet and highly expressive trebles. The response is fast, lively and extremely musical, delivering that traditional sound of the great Hermanos Conde guitars from the era that so many guitarists have searched for over decades. A guitar with enormous projection, great tonal richness and a truly special voice, further enhanced by the added value of having belonged to Pepe Habichuela himself.

The action is medium, with a very low string height at both the saddle and fingerboard, giving this guitar extraordinary comfort for both hands.

The condition of this flamenco guitar is excellent and completely original, with no cracks or repairs of any kind.
