This flamenco guitar was built by luthier Felipe Conde in his workshop at Calle Arrieta No. 4 in Madrid, in the year 2011. Felipe Conde is the son of Mariano Conde and the nephew of Faustino Conde, founders of one of the most prestigious and important brands in the history of Spanish guitar making: Hermanos Conde. It’s impossible to speak of Hermanos Conde without immediately thinking of Paco de Lucía and his inseparable guitar from this firm, or of Pepe Habichuela, Moraito Chico, Cepero, and a long list of artists who have enchanted us with their music—a music born from genius and inspiration, where the instrument plays a fundamental role in the musician’s creative process. And this, precisely, is the secret of the brand. Hermanos Conde managed to imprint their guitars with a distinctive, characteristic sound that captivated the greatest musicians of the era—one with which the artist felt deeply connected when composing and performing their work.
As with all the woods used by Felipe Conde, the materials selected for its construction are of exceptional quality, with over 50 years of drying. The soundboard is made of German spruce, with a fine, straight, and uniform grain across its entire surface. The back and sides are made of genuine Spanish cypress, featuring a beautifully even and truly stunning grain. The overall finish is sober and elegant.
The sound of this flamenco guitar is truly exceptional. It offers unmatched volume and quality, managing to captivate even the most demanding guitarist and awakening the constant desire to play it without rest. Not only is it a comfortable and enjoyable guitar, but it also features a highly versatile flamenco timbre, perfectly suited to all branches of our art: concert performance, and accompaniment for cante and baile.
The action of this flamenco guitar is medium, with a very balanced string height both at the fingerboard and saddle, providing great comfort for both hands and ease of play for the guitarist.
The condition is excellent and entirely original, with no cracks or repairs of any kind.
