This flamenco guitar was built in 2004 by the Sanchis López brothers in Valencia, sons of the master luthier Ricardo Sanchis Carpio. Their guitars are played by flamenco concert performers all over the world, including Pedro Sierra, José Andrés Cortés, Carlos Piñana, among many others.
This guitar is the Model 2F from the Valencian firm. In the nomenclature used by Ricardo Sanchis and Sons, this designation referred exclusively to the aesthetic quality of the selected woods, rather than to their acoustic properties. The soundboard is made of German spruce, with exceptionally straight and uniform grain, while the sides and back are made of excellent-quality Spanish cypress. The finish is typical of the Sanchis house: simple and elegant. Thanks to this selection criteria, they were able to offer guitars with sound performance practically identical to that of their top-of-the-range models, but at a considerably more affordable price.
The guitars built by the Sanchis brothers follow the same construction and tonal principles as those built by their father, Ricardo Sanchis. The result is a guitar with an authentically flamenco voice, balanced and with that distinctive character that makes the instrument particularly rewarding to play. A superb opportunity to acquire a 2004 Sanchis López, from a particularly interesting period in the production of Ricardo Sanchis’s sons and, without a doubt, an excellent choice for anyone looking for a high-quality flamenco guitar with genuine character.
The string action and overall setup of this guitar are simply perfect, providing an extremely comfortable playing feel in both hands and optimizing the fluidity and ease of playing the instrument.
The guitar is in very good and completely original condition. It has a small impact on the side that caused a superficial crack. As the crack is located precisely on the edge of the side, where the lining and braces joining the side to the soundboard are located, it does not require any internal repair or intervention (and is therefore not visible from the inside). It has only been repaired cosmetically on the outside. There is also a fine, superficial crack in the soundboard next to the fingerboard, which has been perfectly repaired with gauze and glue and is documented in the accompanying photographs.
