This flamenco guitar was built by master luthier Isidro Garrido between the 1960s and 1970s. Born in 1922 in Granada, Isidro Garrido is one of the great guitar makers from Granada, alongside Antonio Marín Montero and Manuel de la Chica, though he may be somewhat less known to the general public. His first experience with woodwork began at age 14 as a cabinetmaker. In 1948, he started building guitars, learning from master Eduardo Ferrer and later from Rafael Morales. His guitars are very exclusive and hard to find due to his low production volume, as he only made a few guitars each year.
This guitar was built by Isidro Garrido for the guitar maker Rafael Morales’ workshop, a close friend with whom he shared both the craft and the workshop.
The sound of this flamenco guitar is truly beautiful, with extraordinary bass tones—thick, deep, and with a dry, hollow resonance that makes it ideal for playing soleá. The trebles are crystal-clear and penetrating. Despite appearing to be made from second-grade woods, they were selected for their acoustic quality, something that becomes clear as soon as a single chord is played. Its sound quality, separation, and clarity are of the highest standard, making this an instrument with performance far exceeding its price.
The guitar is in very good condition. It has a crack on the soundboard under the pickguard, which has been perfectly repaired using only glue, not having used any wooden pawns to do so, due to their little seriousness and their location.
