Flamenco guitar José Morilla Díaz 2023

This flamenco guitar was built by the luthier José Morilla Díaz in the year 2023. José Morilla Díaz was born in Aguadulce (Seville) in 1958. At the age of 21, he specialized as a cabinetmaker, a job that would occupy him for 40 years and in which he demonstrated his skill with wood. Throughout his career, he had an interest in guitar and its construction but was unable to pursue it due to personal reasons. After closing his cabinetmaking workshop at the age of 60 and establishing a special friendship with the master artisan Jesús de Jiménez, from the neighboring town of Gilena, who opened the doors of his workshop to him and gradually taught him this wonderful craft. Thanks to José’s continuous curiosity, combined with the constant support of his friend Jesús de Jiménez, in 2018 he began to build a guitar for his daughters, thus beginning his journey as a luthier.

The woods employed for the making of this guitar are of extraordinary beauty and quality. For example, those woods have been used after a careful seasoning process. The top has been made of German spruce, with a straight and even grain. The back and sides are made of cypress wood with an aesthetically perfect cut.

This guitar is really fun to play with a quick response and a remarkable flamenco timbre. Its power and balance are exceptional. Although it is not a concert guitar, we believe it is perfect for accompanying singing and dancing.

The tension of this flamenco guitar is medium, and the heights of the strings in fingerboard and saddle are perfect, providing us with such a high degree of comfort that one will be delighted.
