The Californian guitar maker Lester Devoe is the luthier who made this fine flamenco guitar, made in 1976. Lester Devoe is regarded as one of the best flamenco guitar makers in the world. In fact, his pieces of work have been praised and played by Paco de Lucia, Vicente Amigo, Sabicas… both in recording studios and live concerts.
The woods used for the construction of this guitar are truly extraordinary, surprising, and exclusive. The soundboard is made of the highest quality Sequoia, and the sides and back are made of Canadian yellow cedar! Given the geographical location of this artisan, access to these varieties of wood, which could be considered exotic in Spain, made this masterpiece possible.
The sound it produces is absolutely astonishing, even for us, despite the hundreds of guitars that have passed through our hands over all these years, to the point that we place it among the top ten guitars we have ever tried to this day. It presents a perfect balance in terms of brightness and depth in the bass strings, achieving exceptionally flamenco strums and, at the same time, a very percussive bass that makes the whole body of the instrument vibrate. The trebles are crystal clear and with astonishing projection, very direct and with a very prolonged sustain. The Sequoia presents acoustic peculiarities that make it one of the best woods for the flamenco guitar due to the shape and distribution of its grain and the crystallization of the interior fibers and resins that achieve a tone with the quickness and clarity of cedar but with a sweetness and bass closer to spruce.
The strings height and adjustment which this guitar allows is simply perfect, this permits an extremely comfortable touch in both hands and an increase in fluidity when playing the instrument.
The condition of this flamenco guitar is excellent and completely original, without any kind of cracks or repairs whatsoever.
