Flamenco guitar Manuel de la Chica 1954

This flamenco guitar is made by Maestro Manuel de la Chica, regarded as the most important guitar maker Granada so far. His style and sound quality have been often compared to Maestro Marcelo Barbero’s guitars, as they worked together on some guitars Santos Hernández left unfinished when passing away. In 1973, already a renowned guitar maker, he had no choice but to leave his occupation, due to health complications caused by the inhalation of dust and chemicals. His guitars are recognized and praised by collectors, guitar makers and guitarists all around the world.

This wonderful guitar was made by maestro Manuel de la Chica for a frined of his, so he employed woods of the highest quality, also devoting himself as much as possible to the best of his skills, all of which goes to show when he take a good look at this fantastic instrument.

We are especially happy that we found this gem, as it is really hard, almost impossible, to find a guitar made of Brazilian rosewood by Manuel de la Chica, specifically made for flamenco. It must be borne in mind that Brazilian rosewood did not start to be employed for flamenco guitars until the late 60s, so it is fairly difficult to find a single instrument made of this wood before the 50s. Besides, the condition is so wonderful that it only has a small superficial crack on the bottom (images attached), although no repair or movement can be seen. Consequently, it must be inferred that it took place during the making process, and some glue was used in order to stabilize and secure it.

The sound of this guitar is pure magic. We have always been fascinated by the personal and unique timbre of this great luthier, and this feature is even more evident in this astonishing instrument.
A concert guitar, with unique scope and tone quality, capable of surprising the most experienced connoisseur.

The strings height and adjustment which this guitar allows is simply perfect, this permits an extremely comfortable touch in both hands and an increase in fluidity when playing the instrument.
