This flamenco guitar was made by the master luthier Manuel Reyes in 1962. His guitars are regarded as pieces of work, and him, as one of the greatest luthiers ever. In fact, his guitars have been (and are) played by some of the best performers ever: Vicente Amigo, Tomatito, José Luís Postigo, Manolo Franco, and so many others.
This flamenco guitar is built with superior quality woods, impossible to obtain nowadays. The top are made of german spruce has a totally straight and even grain, which is quite accentuated. The back and sides are made of cypress wood, whose beauty and quality are simply magnificent.
The sound is extraordinary, with an unbeatable character. The basses are powerful, with extraordinary depth. The trebles are crystal clear and bright, with great scope and sustain, and showing a perfect balance between both of them. This guitar´s strumming is just unbeatable: it has Reyes´s distinctive timbre: broken and bright, but with the added personality acquired as time goes by, making this sound the quintessence of FLAMENCO.
This guitar has got medium tension, and a reduced height of strings in the saddle and fingerboard, providing the guitarist with a high degree of comfort for both hands, as well as an easy performance. Besides, we can feel the extra comfort of having such a light guitar (hardly heavier than a kg.)
The condition of this flamenco guitar is really good, mantaining its originality in every single part (pickguards, shellac…). It only has two cracks between the borders of the upper and lower pickguard, and a third one on the upper side of the top, practically invisible. These cracks are perfectly repaired, and backed up with evidence in the pictures attached.
