Niño Martín: 1st Prize of “XXI FLAMENCO GUITAR INTERNATIONAL CONTEST”

This week we are bringing you Martín Fayos Limón´s guitar, also known as “Niño Martín”. He is an incredibly young guitarist with dazzling technique and expressivity, both of which have led him to win the First Prize of the 21st Flamenco Guitar International Contest «Ciutat de l’Hospitalet». In this contest, Solera Flamenca took part as a jury member, as well as supplying the prizes themselves, one of them being an audiovisual production.

For this recording, Niño Martín is accompanied by palmas y jaleos (clapping and cheering) of Joaquín Gómez “El Duende” and Raúl Leiva, singers from Barcelona with a remarkable command of rhythm and a wide knowledge of these singing styles. They have worked with artists such as Chicuelo, Duquende, Juan Manuel Cañizares… among others.

Niño Martín was born in Frankfurt (Germany) in 1991 but he would soon move to Punta Umbría (Huelva) . Aged 11, he started his career as a guitar performer, along with his father. Due to his natural born talent, he started to perform on stage shortly after, accompanied by leading figures of singing and dancing, such as Arcángel, Argentina, Nano de Jerez, Farruca…

He has worked for five years as a second guitar, accompanying Maestro Miguel Ángel Cortés in his shows.

He has also been lucky enough to learn with guitar virtuosos like Miguel Ángel Cortés, Niño Pura and Pedro Sierra, among others.

Throughout his career he has been awarded numerous awards as a flamenco guitarist such as:

– 1st Prize of the 21st Flamenco Guitar International Contest «Ciutat de l’Hospitalet»:
– 1st Prize in Alhaurin de la Torre (Málaga)
– 1st Prize in Ogijares (Granada)
– 1st Prize in Seville Flamenco Federation
– 1st Prize in Cristina Heeren´s Flamenco Art Foundation
– 2nd Prize Desencaja de Andalucía

In today´s double production we are offering bulerias and alegrias, both of them masterfully composed by Niño Martín with Pedro Sierra, accompanied by palmas y jaleos (clapping and cheering) of Joaquín Gómez “El Duende” and Raul Leiva. A beautiful tune, recorded with a guitar made by Manuel Reyes Hijo 2018. An incredible guitar, with powerful and flamenco sound, just like our protagonist.
