Flamenco guitar Manolo Sanlúcar´s Sobrinos de Domingo Esteso 1972

This flamenco guitar has belonged to the master Manolo Sanlúcar, one of the most important and representative figures of flamenco guitar. This guitar of the firm Sobrinos de Domingo Esteso, 1972, built in the landmark workshop at Gravina Street nº 7, by the nephews of master guitar maker Domingo Esteso, at that time run by the brothers Faustino and Mariano Conde, has been part of the personal collection of the ‘maestro’ since it was given to him in that year after ordering the construction of two special flamenco guitars with identical characteristics, one being for the master Paco de Lucia and the other for the ‘maestro’ Manolo Sanlúcar. All the above is perfectly certified and written by Conde Hermanos firm in a document to be delivered along with the instrument at the time of purchase.

Manolo Sanlúcar certified on his own handwriting the period that is guitar was part of his collection in an attached label inside the guitar.

The different woods in this flamenco guitar are of the top existing quality. The top is made of Canadian Cedar, with an outlined grain, straight and smooth, that endorse its exceptional quality. The back and sides are made of Indian rosewood, with a straight grain and beautiful tones.

The sound of this flamenco guitar is magical. It strongly reminds us of the music of maestro Manolo Sanlúcar from that early period of ‘Mundo y Formas de la Guitarra Flamenca’, ‘Flamenco’, or ‘Inspiración’. The tension of this flamenco guitar is medium, and the height of strings in the bridge pin and fret board is perfectly balanced, ensuring great comfort in both hands and easing the guitarist performing.

The conservation condition of this flamenco guitar is excellent and original in its entirety, only presenting a small crack, virtually nil at the bottom of top, perfectly repaired and documented in the attached images. The original frets were replaced by slightly modifying its initial position at the request of Manolo Sanlúcar in order to get an absolutely perfect tone on all notes of the fretboard.
