This flamenco guitar has been made by the great luthier Francisco Barba in 1971. He is regarded as one of the best guitar makers ever and his guitars have been (and are) praised and used by some of the best guitarists in the world: Niño de Pura, Manuel Molina, Rafael Riqueni, Pepe Habichuela… and so many others.
This flamenco guitar is a special order from Jose Luis Parreño Cano to Francisco Barba. This unique instrument has been made with top quality woods. The canadian cedar top has got a very marked, straight and even grain. The back and sides, made of cypress, are of the highest possible quality in the market, both for its beauty and sound qualities. The edging work details and finishing are simply perfect.
The sound emerging from this guitar possesses some special features and nuances, where the flamenco touch from this luthier can be definitely found. Its quality sound is really amazing, this is undoubtedly one of the finest guitars we have ever seen from this maker, a perfect balance between basses and trebles and an incredibly flamenco timbre that sublimely combines power and volume with quality and perfect pitch with that particular “dry” and “hollow” sound, typical in the best flamenco guitars.
The tension is medium, very comfortable for both hands, due to the reduced height of strings in the saddle and fingerboard.
The condition of this flamenco guitar is excellent and completely original, without any crack or repair whatsoever. The shellac (french polish) on the soundtop has been slightly repolished by the master luthier Maximiano Fontiveros.
