This flamenco guitar has been made by master luthier Víctor Quintanilla in 2022. Víctor Quintanilla is a luthier settled in Mijas, a beautiful and quaint small town in Malaga. Víctor Quintanilla studied carpentry in Escuela Franco (currently IES La Rosaleda, a high school), until his tutors put him in touch with the true maestro of the guitar making in Malaga, José Angel Chacón. Then, he would discover his true calling: the guitar. In 2019 he was awarded the First Prize of the Antonio Marín Montero III International Contest of Guitar Making, in Granada, organized by the European Guitar Foundation, in the discipline of flamenco guitar. When we see and listen to his guitars, their sound quality and power, the degree of perfection and refinement attained… all of it powerfully gets our attention, indeed. He is, no doubt, one of the best luthiers we hope to keep collaborating with, for a long time to come.
The woods used for its construction are really precious. The top is made of canadian cedar, with an outlined grain, straight and smooth, that endorse its exceptional quality. The back and sides are made of cypress wood, with an outstanding quality and beauty.
Specially remarkable has to be the headstock: a traditional one, but with an internal mechanism, making accurate tuning possible, without the disadvantages of the old wooden headstocks, combining thus the beauty of the latter with the accuracy and convenience of the modern mechanical headstock.
We really love Víctor´s guitars, and the reason why is probably the fact that we share our taste for a great sound and making quality. His high level of perfection and thoroughness led him to this perfect instrument, capable of beating any expectation. Its strumming and the perfect balance of the bass strings as regards depth/brightness are exceptional, as well as its flamenco timbre. The trebles are bright, accurate and with an astonishing variety of harmonics.
The comfort that Víctor Quintanilla achieves in each and every one of his instruments, in terms of left- and right-hand touch, is worthy of the highest praise and never ceases to amaze us guitar after guitar. This guitar has the highly-valued “rebound beating” on the right hand, combined with fantastic softness on the left one, thus accomplishing the “perfect instrument”, should we want to spend hours and hours playing non-stop with a nice feeling of ease.
The condition of this flamenco guitar is new.
