Flamenco guitar Hermanos Conde 1980

This flamenco guitar was built in the landmark workshop Gravina Street No. 7 by the nephews of the master luthier Domingo Esteso, then run by brothers Faustino and Mariano Conde. Many were the figures who passed through this workshop suing their guitars as Paco de Lucia, Melchor de Marchena, Niño Ricardo, Cepero, Pepe Habichuela… and much more.

The woods in this flamenco guitar are simply perfect. The top is made of German spruce, with an amazing grain: completely straight and uniform. The back and sides are made of an extraordinary cypress. The finishes are the typical in Conde Hermanos work: simple and elegant.

This flamenco guitar from the popular firm from Madrid is surprisingly similar to maestro Pepe Habichuela´s guitar, and not only as regards aesthetics, but also concerning its sound. We all have enjoyed (and we still do) this “jondo”, flamenco sound in Pepe Habichuela´s albums and concerts when his career was peaking. Well, in this guitar we find these special echoes, getting lost in those deep and strummed bass strings. Also, these trebles, so penetrating and crystal-clear, will captivate any of us in love with purity and authenticity.

The tension is medium, very comfortable for both hands, due to the reduced height of strings in the saddle and fingerboard.

The condition is excellent. It has two cracks on the top, almost invisible to eyesight and perfectly repaired. The guitar was revarnished again with natural varnish of nitroshellac, just the same way as the original instrument. As a result, it does not alter the original thickness of the wood, which in turn preserves all its fantastic sound qualities. The pickguards which were attached after the restoring and revarnishing process were stuck with hot glue, just the way it was done back in that period. As a result, they have acquired this dark characteristic tone which we personally love it.
