10 Apr ÁNGEL FLORES: The new flamenco guitar generation on Solera Flamenca
Ángel Flores (Torrejón de Ardoz, Madrid, 1998) is one of the young promises of flamenco guitar. He started playing at the age of 11, with Ricardo Sanchez and Pablo García, where he would enter the world of accompanying by singing and dancing, being awarded the “Surprise Star Artist” Prize, aged 14 only, in ”Al compás del Flamenco” Festival, in Madrid (2012).
Aged 16, he gave his first guitar performance, and he started working with the Spanish ballet company ”Carmen de Córdoba”. At the same time, he would continue improving his training, with artists such ”El Entri” or Jose Rojo, and collaborating with numerous artist, like Cancanilla de Málaga, Mariano Morillas, etc. Among his achievements, the following stand out: Third Prize at ”Jaen’s National Flamenco Guitar Contest” (2014), candidate as a semi-finalist at ”Internacional Flamenco Guitar Contest” (L’Hospitalet’, Barcelona), and Third Prize at International Flamenco Guitar Festival (Jerez, Cadiz) , in 2018.
He currently keeps on studying in ”Rafael Orozco” Upper Conservatory (Cordoba), and he also collaborates in shows like ”Alma de violín flamenco” by the violinist Paco Montalvo, or ”Frente a Frente” along with the guitarist Álvaro Mora. He is also Ángeles Toledano’s regular guitarist.
In this production we are showing you here, one can find a buleria which is a true work of art. Beautiful tunes and prodigious technique merge in this great music composition. This is a video recorded with the new “Homenaje a Marcelo Barbero” guitar model (2019), an incredible instrument, with a really powerful and flamenco sound, just like our protagonist´s playing.
