This flamenco guitar was built by master luthier Francisco Barba in 2007. Considered one of the finest guitar makers in the world, his instruments are highly respected and played by renowned guitarists, collectors and professionals such as Niño de Pura, Manuel Molina, Rafael Riqueni, Pepe Habichuela, among many others.
This Francisco Barba guitar is crafted from an extraordinarily special rosewood, a very rare wood that we have only encountered in two or three instruments over the years. It is a rosewood with an intense natural aroma of roses, very similar to the historic Miguel Rodríguez guitar once owned by Rafael Riqueni, which we had the privilege of having in our collection years ago.
This particular rosewood gives the guitar a distinctive, deep and elegant tone, with exceptional harmonic richness. Without hesitation, we can say that this is one of the three finest concert guitars by this maker that we have ever had the opportunity to play.
The tuning machines also deserve special mention. They come from a prestigious German manufacturer that ceased production years ago, making them virtually impossible to find today. These tuners are of outstanding quality and precision. If they were still produced today, their value would likely be around €1000, considering that almost twenty years ago they were already sold for approximately €600.
Regarding playability, the guitar has been carefully adjusted. The action at the 12th fret is 2.2 mm, offering exceptional comfort and ease of playability for both hands.
The rasgueado is powerful and authentically flamenco, with great projection and character, while maintaining excellent control of the sound and avoiding unwanted buzzing or noise. The result is a guitar with great volume, fast response and a clearly flamenco personality, perfectly suited for concert performance and professional playing.
It is worth mentioning that the instrument presents three small cracks on the upper area of the back, located in a section that does not affect the sound in any way. This is something relatively common during the early years of guitars built with rosewood, as the instrument naturally settles over time. These cracks have been professionally repaired and are clearly documented in the attached images. They do not affect the structural stability or the tonal quality of the instrument in any way.
In conclusion, this is a magnificent concert flamenco guitar with an exceptional sound and a strong personality. It also represents a rare opportunity, as its price is significantly lower than the cost of commissioning a similar instrument directly from the luthier today.
This allows us to offer the instrument at a more accessible price, making it possible to acquire a guitar of the highest category for significantly less than its usual market value, making it an excellent opportunity.
