This flamenco guitar was made in 1982 by Gerundino Fernández, a prestigious guitar maker, born in Almería. He is regarded as one of the best guitar makers ever, despite the facts of being self-taught and leading a bohemian life in his last years. His guitars have been present in stages all over with guitar performers like Paco Peña, Tomatito, Raimundo Amador…
In 1980, after many calculations, sketches, and much dreaming, Maestro Gerundino started the making of his own guitar model, using the woman’s body shape as an inspiration: hips, waist, breasts, with an egg-shaped mouthpiece, being extended in sharp points on three of its sides, just like the base of the top. Only seven units of this model were made: the guitarist Paco Peña bought one of them; another one was purchased by a Greek collector Gerundino used to call “Taky” affectionately, and the third was acquired by the Spanish guitarist Bernardo Sandoval. The remaining four ones were reserved for each of his children.
This exclusive instrument keeps the characteristic sound quality and strength of the best guitars made by Gerundino, but with an even deeper and wider resonance.
The tension of this flamenco guitar is medium, and the height of strings on the fingerboard and saddle, balanced and perfect. If we add up the convenience to access the highest-pitched notes offered by this design, its comfort for both hands is more than obvious.
The condition is excellent and completely original, without any cracks or repairs whatsoever.
